To Live Would Be An Awfully Big Adventure -Peter Pan

Dear Friends,

Goodness me, it's been a while.
My life has been crazy as of late.
Roscoe and I spent a month in Arizona and California visiting family.
We made it back the day before Halloween to trick or treat with Daniel and Bono Baby.
Then we went out of town again so I could go to a workshop (that I can't wait to tell you about).

I will say this, I miss blogging.
It is a way for me to share and in doing so, wind down.
The little man is keeping me on my toes.
He's a pretty cute Lost Boy though.

I am beyond thrilled about the cooler weather and holiday cheer.
If you are still out there, dearies, I want you to know that I'm here for you.
I am easier to find lately via email, Instagram, or Facebook.
This lovely little blogging world has brought me so much joy and I am thankful to have friends who are here for me (even after I disappear for a while).

love love,
Fritzi Marie

p.s. Are you all making up your Christmas wish lists?
There are so many pretties out there to wish for right now.
I tell you, there is magic in the air.

Who Can Resist a Black Swan with a Golden Crown?

Dearest Friends,

Goodness me, I've been up to my ears busy this month.
Daniel went to Seattle (and road tripped home) for nearly two weeks and I have been taking care of the boys.
What an eye opener this experience has been for me.
I will say this,  I appreciate and love my dear husband so so so so much and can't wait for him to get home tomorrow.
It has been hard but also empowering and fun in so many ways.
To be honest, I think these two weeks were the best thing that could have happened to me (as a Mommy).
I am better for it.

love love,
Fritzi Marie

p.s. The above swan is from Misha Lulu's winter line.  Misha Lulu is a children's clothing designer that I admire so much.  She is based out of my homeland in Pasadena, CA and her designs make me wish for a little girl.
I will admit that I did pre-order this swan t-shirt for a future little girl in my life.
I just couldn't help myself and you just never know, right?
Check out Ava Mae & Ruby Lou Vintage for Misha Lulu's winter pre-order selections.
All items are made in the USA in small quantities.

Love Always

 Beautiful Friends,

Thank you for making my birthday magical.
I still can't believe I am 38 years old.
Time is flying by and I want to be better about enjoying every moment.
Some days, it is so easy to let the moments slip by.

A while back Daniel and I purchased this Love Always banner from Fun Cult.
It hasn't found a permanent place in our home yet but it is hanging casually in our living room to remind us to love one another.
The phrase, Love Always, seems so simple and small but goodness, it is so important.
I am taking it on as my motto for my 38th year.
My wish is for my home (our little bubble in Alabama) will be a place of sanctuary for us.

My sweet sister Annie flew out from California for my birthday.
Her gesture meant so much to me.
(She spoiled me big time with all sorts of fun sister goodness)
Having her here reminded me of how wonderful it is to have family near.

Some days I wish I didn't have to live so far from home and family.
Roscoe has changed everything for me.
Even the way I celebrate my birthday.
We spent my birthday eating fancy cupcakes and playing at the park.
It was perfect.

My boys make me want to be a better person.
I want to create a magical place for them to feel Love Always.
While it takes work and growth, I think I can make it happen.

I think we can all do things everyday to show our friends and family that we love them.
I am going to spend this year trying to figure out how to be better about it.
My sister Buffy really surprised me for my birthday and I felt so loved.
She had a vintage feed sack quilt top that I found at an estate sale quilted for me.
She even hand bound it.
(Bono Baby is modeling with it above).
This birthday has been an eye opener for me.
Our moments are precious and life goes by way to fast.

I am excited about my new year to grow and learn to Love Always and enjoy the little things and moments.
(Like watching my little man enjoying a summer storm on our back porch)

Thank you for helping me grow.
I am lucky to have so many great examples of love in my world.

Love Always,
Fritzi Marie

Party Dresses and Birthday Wishes

Beautiful Friends,

I ran into this photo on Pinterest a while back and it made me giggle.
This is me, a few years down the road.
I've been trying my best not to feel old right now.
Given it is my birthday week and I am about to turn 38 years old.
Life just seems to be flying by lately.
We took Roscoe to his first movie show today.
I can't believe he is old enough to watch a movie.

I still feel like a little girl who wants to dress up in a party dress for my special day.
I hope I can always feel that way.

So often I find myself feeling overwhelmed with my life.
Birthdays give me a chance to reflect and celebrate the many wonderful things that I have been able to do in the past year.
Honestly, I feel like the only thing I did this year was take care of Roscoe.
It was my year to become a Mother.
Probably the most difficult year of my life thus far.

I have so much to celebrate and I can't wait to eat cake with my boys on my birthday.

love love,
Fritzi Marie

p.s. Sorry about all the birthday talk.  I am a chatty Kathy lately.  hugs.

Birthday Week Traditions

Beautiful Friends,
This week is my birthday week.
It officially starts tomorrow when we go to Atlanta to pick up my sister at the airport.
While in Atlanta, Daniel is going to take me to Anthropologie to use my birthday 15% off to get one of my favorite candles and to Trader Joe's for birthday treats.
We love to celebrate the little things around here.

We have had a rainy week or two here in Alabama.
It rained on the 4th of July.
We are saving our sparklers for clear weather.
July 5th marked the 12th year since my Daddy passed away so we celebrated him by watching Gene Kelly movies and going out for Frosties at Wendy's (my Daddy loved them).
Then today my sweet Daniel cut his hand and he had to go to the hospital to get stitches.
So scary and stressful.
I love rainy days but I am ready for my sister to bring some sunshine from California.

Last year we started a tradition with Roscoe where he gives me a frame-worthy card or print for my birthday gift and he puts his hand and footprints in them or on back of them.
I hope to one day have a wall covered with these special cards filled with love notes from my baby boy.
This year he is giving me this Emily Martin print (because I love black swans) and last year he gave me this Amelie print by Nouvellegamine.
Isn't he the most thoughtful little thing?

Also, we have a winner for the Doo Nanny flower crown / headband.
Congratulations Sonia V, random.org picked your number.
I want to make everyone who entered a special little something so please email me at fritzimarie(at)yahoo(dot)com with your address.
Thank you so much for supporting me and my little shop.
I adore you all.

hugs,
Fritzi Marie

Wearing Many Hats

Dearest Friends,

I have been busy giving my world a makeover.
I started this blog 5 years ago as a newlywed.
Now I am a stay-at-home mommy to our son, Roscoe, and our 11 year-old puppy, Bono Baby.
My dear husband, Daniel, spends his time writing poetry and teaching English at Auburn University.
I spend my time treasure hunting and making things pretty for my family and for my shop, Fritzi Marie.

We are Westerners living in the South.
To us, the South is a magical place where we have been able to grow and fall in love with our little man Roscoe (Coco for short).

I hope you enjoy the changes we are making here.
I feel like so much has changed in my world since Roscoe arrived.
Motherhood is crazy and I find it is so hard not to lose yourself in it.
I am determined to be a mommy, wife, treasure hunter who enjoys creating pretty, sassy lady, and friend.
I am so thankful to all of my friends who have supported me and this little blog.
I hope I am able to cheer you on and help you find your fire engine within.

love love,
Fritzi Marie

p.s. These are a few of the photo's that my friend Candy of Picture Perfect Photography took of us.
We are so in love with them.

Just Around The Corner

Dear Friends,

On Monday, July 1st we will be re-opening our Etsy shop and selling our Doo Nanny crowns/headbands, sock monkeys with vintage embellishments, and various vintage items that we have been hoarding for far too long.
It is an exciting time for us.
Above is the first Doo Nanny crown/headband I made.
It is the larger version of the crown.

This is our beautiful friend Ellie modeling the smaller version of our Doo Nanny crown/headband.
I love when I see her wearing it out and about.
It makes me so happy to see my friends wearing something I made.
I hope they make you feel beautiful and festive.

love love,
Fritzi Marie

My Alabama Baby

Dearest Friends,

I found some photos from a visit to our friend Butch Anthony's place from a few weeks ago and I just had to share.
When Dan and I found out we were going to have a baby, an Alabama friend declared that we would have an Alabama Baby.

Some days it seems so strange that I have an Alabama baby.
I wonder how we got here.
Why are we here in Alabama?
I am so thankful for Daniel's job at Auburn and for my sweet little Alabama baby Roscoe.

Looking at these photos reminds me why I love Alabama so.
It is a place of wonderment.
I am so happy my little man was born here.
He is the cutest little Alabama Baby I know.

love love,
Fritzi Marie

Circus Monkeys

 Dearest Friends,

We are photographing our vintage items to go in the shop tomorrow morning
Fingers crossed that the sun is out.
I have been hoarding treasure for the past couple of years.
Pregnancy and Roscoe's first year put everything on the back burner.
I feel like we are finally coming up for air.
I wanted to let you know that we will also be selling the sock monkeys I make in the shop.
I love adding vintage details to them to make them more personalized.

I won this Shrine Circus poster at The Possum Trot auction a couple of years ago.
It inspired our circus photo shoot with Candy of Picture Perfect.

I just can not decide who is the better sock monkey model, Roscoe or Bono Baby.
These boys win me over day after day.

love love,
Fritzi Marie

Arizona Beauty

Dearest Friends,

I am getting really excited about July.
July is my birthday month and many of my best friends call it their birthday month as well.
It is always a really happy time for me.
I LOVE birthdays.
That is why we chose July as the month to do the shop and blog re-launch.
Buffy (my baby sister who also celebrates her birthday in July and is one of my best friends) is modeling the small version of our Doo Nanny crown / headband in this photo.

One of my favorite parts about these headbands is the sweet little label.
I just think it is so cute.

Here's to a fabulous week, beautiful friends.
I hope yours is filled with optimism and happy days.

love love,
Fritzi Marie

I Love You More Than My Own Skin -Frida Kahlo

Dear Friends,

We are getting really excited about sharing our Doo Nanny flower crown/headbands with you.
My beautiful friend Amanda Atkins of Amanda Atkins In A Canary Forest wore her red Doo Nanny crown to a festival at the school where she teaches art.

My sister Annie and I were looking for ideas about what to wear to fancy up our time at The Doo Nanny this past spring.
The Doo Nanny is a outsider art festival that is our favorite thing about Alabama.

I love to be inspired by vintage burlesque costumes and pin up girls.
.

I also love vintage circus costumes.

We love to look to the past for inspiration.
The ultimate flower crown/headband inspirational model is Frida Kahlo.

We hope you love our Doo Nanny headbands as much as we do.
Every time I wear mine I feel like a burlesque dancer and circus performer and artist all at the same time.
I think that is the perfect way to feel when you want to feel beautiful.

love love,
Fritzi Marie

p.s. We will have Doo Nanny crown/headbands available in two sizes in red, gold, cream, and black on July 1st.

The Beginning Of Always

Dearest Friends,

The past few years have been crazy for me.
I haven't been my regular blogger self and I am ready to start fresh.
Daniel and I have been working on making over this blog and our Etsy shop (with the help of our friend Marjorie).
Our dear friend Candy of Picture Perfect Photography took our family and shop photos.
I can't wait to share more of them with you.

On July 1st, we will be selling our Doo Nanny flower headbands and sock monkeys.
The shop will also be re-stocked with vintage items.

Our new banner makes me so happy.
My beautiful friend, Amanda Atkins, painted it for us.
I feel that it perfectly expresses our little family.

We are pretty excited about our fresh start.
Our world is so full of love and support and we are thankful.
Thank you for being there for us.
We love you all so much.

always,
Fritzi Marie

Baby Ducklings and Lightning Bugs

Dear Friends,

Life here in the South is getting muggy and hot.
We sighted the first lightning bugs of the season in our backyard last night.
Roscoe just had another growth spurt and his molars are coming in.
I think this photo sums up his personality pretty well.
He is sassy.
(Just like his Mommy)

Roscoe is discovering new things everyday.
He and Bono are getting along better.
That took a while.
He is in love with the cowboy boots a friend sent him.
He clumps around the house and bosses Bono Baby around.

We have been busy chasing after the little men.
We look forward to Farmers Market Thursdays.
Our sweet local honey man isn't able to make it to market days any longer so we visited his farm and stocked up on local honey.
I think local honey is one of my very favorite treats.

On our evening walk we talked about how we have lived in the South for six years now.
Three years in Southern Mississippi and three years in Alabama.
The South has changed us in so many ways.
I like to think, for the better.
While chatting with my sister Buffy she reminded me that I will look back on this time and think it was magical.
I love that.
To me, the South is magical.
I, like little man Roscoe, am discovering new things everyday.

love love,
Fritzi Marie

p.s. We will be unveiling a new blog and shop at the end of June.
I am so anxious to share it with you.

A Little Bird Told Me

Dearest Friends,

Just wanted to check in and let you know we're always thinking of you.
We've been distracted lately with some big projects that we're looking forward to sharing with you soon.
Roscoe is growing like kudzu and Bono Baby is enjoying long naps between walks.
Dan is teaching summer school.
Life is good.

Love you,
Fritzi Marie

Hippity Hop Hop Hop

Dearies,

We are in project mode over here at Morris cottage.
I love being in project mode.
Many "logistics" are up in the air in our world and we are full of optimism and plans for our future.
In the meantime...I work on making things pretty.

When my beautiful sister was here for the Doo Nanny, we were able to spend Easter together.
It just worked out and it was magical.

We had so much fun making Easter baskets for one another.
Making Roscoe's was the most fun.
Holidays are so much more special with him.

In my family the Easter egg hunt is a BIG deal.
My brother would tell you that it is a big deal for his sisters as he usually just watches.
Something about finding the most eggs brings out our competitive nature I suppose.

I was the big egg hunt loser this year.
Annie and Daniel both found a golden egg (filled with cash).
Lucky ducks.

Dan found another egg in our back yard yesterday.
It fell out of a tree during a storm.
And it made me sad.
Sad that my sister isn't here but thankful that we had such a lovely Easter.
I hope Roscoe wins the egg hunt next year.

love love,
Fritzi
