Sunday Drives With Roscoe

One of our favorite things to do on Sunday afternoons is to take long drives in the country.
Over the six year span of our marriage, Dan and I have lived in California, Mississippi, Washington, and Alabama.
We have seen a lot of countryside on Sunday afternoons.

On today's drive, we rolled down the windows and the air smelled like honeysuckle, grass, and barbecue.
Alabama at its finest.

I love having Dan pull over so I can take quick photos of old buildings.
We like to imagine what these towns were like 'back in the day'.

So far Roscoe loves his Sunday afternoon adventures.

He loves to wear his over sized shades and nap with the wind blowing through his hair.
So cute!

love and hugs,
Fritzi Marie

So Serious

I was looking at this photo of us from last weekend.  My parents are visiting and they watched Roscoe so we could go out to celebrate our 6th wedding anniversary.  We look so serious.

With the arrival of Roscoe our lives have changed.
I think we are handling it fairly well.
I am probably too hard on myself.

I was feeling stressed out before we went to bed last night.
I was worried about all the little things that we really don't have much control over.
When I checked my mail this morning, Dan shared this little video with me and it perked me up.
I like to think that Daniel and I are dancing through this life with a bit of sass and carefree wonder.
I truly wouldn't want to be dancing about with anyone else, I know that for sure.
I am so lucky.

Do you have big plans for your weekend?
We are going to be busy getting our house ready for visitors and a party.

Happy Weekend Wishes.

Our Little Baby Doll

This is the photo we used for Roscoe's birth announcements.
I am so in love with it.
I think Roscoe looks like a little baby doll.
He just melts my heart.

Dan and I have been married for six years now.
It just does not seem like it has been that long.
We spent our weekend reminiscing about the adventures we have been on during our marriage.

To celebrate we went to a late showing of Titanic.
Seeing it again in the theater brought back so many memories for me.
I loved seeing it in 3D.
I will admit, I forgot how long it was and I was ready to get back to my boys (Roscoe and Bono Baby) after two hours.

We spent our Saturday at the Waverly 280 Boogie.
We have been looking forward to this festival all year.

It wasn't as magical as it was for us last year.
The food wasn't as good and they didn't sell Wickles Pickles this year.
We love Wickles Pickles

I sighted a young lady wearing a t-shirt that said, "It's a southern thing, you wouldn't understand".
I think that t-shirt about summed up the event for me this year.
Let's just say that the people watching was fabulous.

The reason we were so excited about going this year was that The Pine Hill Haints played.
I love this band.
I think they are my favorite Alabama discovery.

It was a lovely weekend for us.
I am so in love with my husband.
I wouldn't change a thing.

p.s. I hope your weekend was super fun too.

A Note From Roscoe

Dear Mommy's Friends,

My Mommy just told me that tomorrow I will officially be three months cute.
I noticed that she was being sneaky this afternoon and I think she is going to give me a present.
She also told me that we are driving to Atlanta to pick up my Grannie and Grandpa CJ tonight.
I guess the are coming all the way from California to celebrate my big day.
I am so excited!

I also met this little baby bluebird when we went on our walk tonight.
He was hanging out in my front yard.
My Mommy told me that he stopped by to wish me a happy three month cute day.
I am such a lucky boy.

I love you all,

Truly, Madly, Deeply

Dear Friends,

I want to preface this post by letting you know that I am writing it for me.
Last weekend, I sat down with Dan's phone and looked at the photo's he took when we were at the hospital (for Roscoe's delivery).
Roscoe is nearly three months old and I am going to admit that it took me two and a half months to get over the trauma of the delivery and really fall head over heals in love with my baby.

Don't get me wrong, I've loved my child from day one, but I always thought I would be madly in love with my child immediately.
Instead I felt emotionally and physically beat up.
I felt numb.
I felt like I missed out on all of the special times because I was in such bad shape.
I felt like a horrible mother and I was depressed.

It took me two months to process the whole event and start to feel better.
When I did start feeling better the magic happened.
I fell in LOVE with my Mister Man, Roscoe.
Truly, madly, deeply in love.

People always told me that I would forget about all the awful and be ready to do it all over again.
I don't think I will ever be able to forget the awful but I am getting over it (and that makes me so happy).
It will be a miracle if I ever do it again.
For a lot of reasons.

Despite the horrible delivery and the depression that followed, I always knew that I wasn't alone.
I think many women have hard times bringing babies into the world and it could have been so much worse.
I have more compassion and respect for women and mothers now.
I feel so blessed to have this little man in my world.
I am over the moon in love with him and I wouldn't change a thing.
I just wish I could remember more about that special time.
I wish I could have felt more.

If you are pregnant, I want you to know that I am here for you.
You are working so hard and I am proud of you.
love love,
Fritzi Marie

Roscoe's Favorite Dollies

Last Christmas Dan and I gifted Roscoe a couple of BlaBla dolls (Bono Baby opened them since Roscoe wasn't here yet).
We fell in love with them and I think you will too after you watch this adorable video.

We like the idea of Roscoe having a little family of BlaBla dolls to play with.
We are saving our pennies for Luigi the frog (we love his little cuff links).
Too cute!

Happy Monday, dearies.

My Boys Make Me So Happy

I've been having so much fun dressing Roscoe up in little vintage peter pan collared jumpsuits for church.
He just melts my heart in his Mr Fancy Pants outfits.

I know that one day soon I won't be able to dress him up in old timey clothes so I am loving this time where I can pick out his ensembles.
I (not so) secretly like to pick out dresses that match his little jumpsuits.
It just makes me happy.

If I could bring Bono Baby to church (wearing a matching bow tie) my Sunday would be perfect.
I love being with my boys so much.
They are just too cute!

love love,
Fritzi Marie

p.s. I hope you have an amazing week.

Weekend Snippets

I hope you had a lovely weekend.
We spent a lot of time outside enjoying the sunshine and low humidity.

We helped our friends plant a garden in our backyard.
They are helping us learn how to garden and we are super excited to see how it all turns out.
(This is a before shot of our backyard)

We went on a number of mini adventures (Roscoe's first trip to Five Guys), did some treasure hunting, and we went on a drive in the country (Bono Baby loves to put his head out the window).
It was so nice to relax and enjoy one another.

We hope you had a relaxing weekend too.
I think we all deserve a relaxing weekend filled with mini adventures.

Egg Hunts and Jellybeans

We hope you had a lovely Easter weekend.
We had a relaxing couple of days.
Just what we needed.

We were invited to our friends home for Easter dinner.
While we wish we could have been home in California or Washington to win egg hunts, it was so nice to spend the afternoon with friends.
Plus, the food was so so so good.
I will be back on my diet tomorrow.
I am desperate to fit my pre-pregnancy clothes properly.
We can't wait to see Roscoe and Bono Baby hunt for eggs next year.
love love,
Fritzi Marie

Happy Easter Wishes

Happy Easter Weekend.
I've been looking at old photo's of Easters past and marveling at how much Roscoe looks like me.
He looks like Daniel too but it is so strange to look at this special little creature and see myself.
I allowed myself to get in an awful funk this week and I regret wasting my time with the feelings I went through.
If I have learned anything it is that my boys are a happier bunch when I am happy.
I want to be happy for them.
Some days it isn't easy.

I am going to pull up my bootstraps and start planning my goals for this new phase in my life.
I am now so much more.
I have so much love around me and I need to live up to my full potential.
I am not going to wait for anything anymore.
I am going to live right now, in the present, and follow my dreams.

Your friend (me) is about to get down to business.

Have fun on your Easter egg hunt (my very favorite part of Easter).

love love,
Fritzi Marie

Doo Nanny 2012 Snippets

We wish you all could have been with us at the Doo Nanny over the weekend.
We took some photo's so we could share the magic of the event with you.

We can't wait for Doo Nanny 2013.

Roscoe Goes To See Doc Dailey & Magnolia Devil

Roscoe went to his first show over the weekend.
We spent the day at the Doo Nanny at Butch's place in Seale, Alabama.
We went home for a bit to re-coup and brought Roscoe back to see Doc Dailey & Magnolia Devil (Dan's favorite Alabama band).

Roscoe had a good ol' time.
We danced together in the mud.
It rained the night before.

Roscoe loved Doc Dailey.

We took him home before the Doo Nanny burn
Little boys have to go home after dark.

love love,
Fritzi Marie

p.s. The first concert I ever went to was when I was 14.
I saw The Cure, Love and Rockets, and The Pixies at Dodger Stadium.
What was your first concert like?
