Let's Find Ourselves

My goodness friends, I have gone through a dark patch. I am happy to report that with help from my doctor, chiropractor, and my amazing husband I am starting to feel a little bit more like myself. I am thanking my lucky stars for all the wonderful friends and family I have to support me and my little family of four.
We are busy preparing for a grand adventure. All of our Christmas decorations are safely packed away for another year and we are heading out to find ourselves again. I want to wish you all the loveliest of holidays (just in case I go off the grid). Thank you for being my friends.

Today I Am Thankful

Dearest Friends and Family,

Happy Thanksgiving from our little family in Auburn, Alabama.
We got dressed up in our Auburn gear and walked around campus this morning.
Daniel is cooking Thanksgiving dinner.

I've been thinking of what I am thankful for and I want to tell you all that Daniel is who I am most thankful for.
Our little family is my whole world and I adore my sweet baby boys.
My dear husband has been putting up with/taking care of me while I have been dealing with a bad (for me) case of postpartum depression.
It's not something I really want to admit to or talk about but it is very real and I am looking forward to feeling like myself again some time soon.

I hope you can all be patient with me and know that I am not myself right now.
I love love love you all so very much.

Happy Thanksgiving.

11 Years Of Love

Happy Birthday Bono Baby.
Thank you for taking care of me for all these years.
I know I was a meanie pants when I was pregnant and then I brought Roscoe home and you wonder about all that.
You are such a trooper.
Thank you for loving on Roscoe and trying hard to be nice to him when he steals your toys and grabs your cute little tail.
You, my sweet puppy, mean the world to me and I love you so so so much.
Roscoe and Daniel love you too.

Happy 11th Birthday.

Your Family

Date Night

We did a very brave thing this weekend.
We left Roscoe with a sitter for the very first time.
Dan and I went on a hot date.

We went out for a fancy meal and Dan took me to see my favorite Alabama band, The Pine Hill Haints
It was really hard to leave the little man behind but we knew he was safe and we really needed a date night.
The night was magical and I am looking forward to doing it again.
It helps that Roscoe is in love with his babysitter.

Roscoe is learning new things by the minute.
This weekend he found the books.
We have some baby proofing to do around here.
I think he will be up and running very very soon.
I don't know if I am ready for it all but he sure does charm our socks off.

Dream Of The 1890's...

Happy November.
We sure do hope you had a fabulous Halloween.
We somehow managed to pull it all together despite a crazy hectic week.

I'm sure you all watch Portlandia so you get what the boys dressed up as.
Here's a clip
Bono Baby makes a cute chicken.

I have never dressed up as a witch before so this was my year to be a witchy-woman.
I love that all I had to do was buy a silly hat.

We made Carmel apples, drank apple cider, carved a pumpkin, went trick-or-treating (to one house), visited a "spooky" cemetery, dressed up, and handed out candy to cute little one's.
I think Roscoe's first Halloween was a smashing success.
I can't wait to do it all over again next year.

Here's to making new traditions.

love and hugs,

Put A Mask On It

The autumn leaves are at their peek here in Auburn.
It is beautiful.
The highlight of our week was Roscoe's first visit to a pumpkin patch.

When I was a little girl we had to get our pumpkins from the grocery store parking lot.
So I think Roscoe was pretty lucky to be able to go to a real pumpkin patch.

He helped his Daddy pick out a big pumpkin and I picked out a tiny one.

We brought it home and put a "mask" on it.

We are going on a mini road trip this weekend and making carmel apples too.
Fingers crossed that it will be magical.

Charming Roscoe

I just can't get over this photo.
Such a concerned little man.
Every day is a filled with discovery around here.
Today we sang this together.
We are so in LOVE.

Auntie Buff

I forgot to tell you all about so many adventures Roscoe and I had while on our trip home last month.
The little man and I had the chance to go to Arizona to see my beautiful sister Buffy for a few days.
My Buffy WAS the baby in our family for a very long time.
Now she's Auntie Buff to our Roscoe.

We had a magical time shopping, visiting olive groves, taking photo's, chit chatting, eating fabulous food, and reuniting with good friends.
I wish I could live next door to Buffy.
We always have the most fun.

Three of my dearest friends live there and we had a fabulous reunion.
I am so lucky to have so many "sisters" out in the world.
They make my heart happy.
I love all my friends so so so much.

love love,

Sleepy But Oh So In Love

One of the things that bothers me most about living in small towns is the movies I am most excited to see rarely come to town.
It bugs me.
Amazon delivered Moonrise Kingdom this week and I loved it.
It was so nice to have a date night with my boys here at home.

Life has been super busy with walks in the park, trips to the library, work, autumn goodness and everything Roscoe.
Our little man sure is a lot of work.

My special treat to myself is shower time with LUSH It's Raining Men shower gel.
It smells amazing and makes me feel pampered and pretty after a long day.
I never want to shower without it again.
It is that good.

Roscoe is growing so fast and he makes us laugh everyday.

This week he has come up with new facial expressions to entertain us with.

Bono Baby and Roscoe helped me decorate for Halloween this week.
We dressed up our bunny's and Mister Snail with fancy little masks and scattered glittery pumpkins about the house.

Roscoe played on the swings at the playground for the first time this afternoon.
Probably one of the cutest things I have ever seen.

I am sleep deprived and busy visiting the chiropractor twice a week but I wouldn't change a thing.
These boys (Daniel, Roscoe, and Bono Baby) are my whole world.
I can't wait for our next adventure.

love love love,
Fritzi Marie

Fairy Godmother Wishes

Dearest Friends,

Thank you so much for your kind and thoughtful comments on my last post.
One of the greatest things about the Internet is the ability we all have to stay connected and support one another through our trials.
When Roscoe arrived I felt that I needed more privacy in my world.
It felt natural to keep more of my life private and only share certain things with family and close friends.
Because of that I'm afraid my last post may have been misunderstood by some.
While I do find this transformation to becoming a good Mommy very difficult, I need to tell you all that I am happy and well.
My life is filled with joyful moments and I am not depressed.
I am stressed out and tired but I am also in love with my life.
I love my little family so so much and I feel very grateful for all that we have.
I wish we I could send a Fairy Godmother over to your home and ask her to make your wishes come true.
Wouldn't that be wonderful.
Instead, I am here to be your friend, to send happy wishes your way, and to look for the happy moments each new day shares with us.

I hope that we can all be brave enough to admit that things can be hard and that some days take a lot of work and wear us out.

How lucky we are to have wonderful friends to cheer us on.

p.s. Did you see the new episode of Once Upon A Time
I am so hooked on that show.

A Time And A Season

I've been busy trying to figure out how to balance my life and be a good Mommy.
It is hard and most days I feel like I've messed up in a dozen different ways.
While Roscoe brings so much joy to my world, I still feel like I am mourning my old life.
I know we all know this but being a full time Mom means making a lot of sacrifices.
When I am sleep deprived, these sacrifices, seem overwhelming to me and I get sad.
I have been trying to find myself.
For that I offer no apologies.
I am not the same lady I was before having Roscoe and I think that is okay.
We are all on a journey and there is a time and a season for everything.
I hope you all know that I care about you.
Here's to the adventure.

We LOVE In-N-Out

Dan and I are big fans of In-N-Out Burger.
I think everyone is really.
Dan loves to order a Double Double animal style, fries well done, and a Neapolitan shake.
I love to order a grilled cheese with extra tomato, a big Diet Coke, and I nibble on his fries.

Roscoe and I met up with one of my dear friends for Roscoe's first visit to In-N-Out.
I had to go out a few days ahead of his official visit to get him this onesie so he could look like a milkshake.
I just had to.

My friend and I had so much fun sharing In-N-Out with Roscoe.
We ate grilled cheese sandwiches and shared stories about our lives.
It feel so thankful to have had time to reconnect with dear friends.

Anyhow, I felt super guilty about introducing In-N-Out to Roscoe without Daniel.
So we went to Five Guys this afternoon for a family date.
It is not the same as In-N-Out but it was pretty good.
We feel pretty lucky to have one in our little neighborhood.
It sure does do in a pinch.

Do you have a favorite burger joint?
Dan is always on the hunt for a good burger.

I am so lucky to still have a home to go home to.
My Mommy and Dad CJ still live in the home that I grew up in.
It was so sweet for me to be able to introduce Roscoe to my little hometown in Southern California.
I loved sitting out on the front lawn of my childhood home with my little man.
I told him all about how I used to run around in the sprinklers with my brother and sisters in that front yard.

This is my families little home in Monrovia.
It makes me so happy.
When I arrived I was so surprised by the new paint job on the house.
It looks so nice.

The day we arrived was my Daddy's birthday so we went to his favorite dono store to pick up some of his favorite dono's (bear claws) and we went to the cemetery to visit.

It is strange and comforting to be able to have so many memories attached to a place.
So many places we visited brought back happy happy memories.
It was a magical way to introduce Roscoe to his home away from home.

Do you still have a home to go home too?

love love,
Fritzi Marie

I have been overwhlemed with life since returning from our adventure.
It is taking a while for me to catch up.
Tonight I plan to cuddle with my boys in bed while we watch a movie and eat popcorn.
Sounds perfect.

I'm Wishing I Was Wishing

Hello sweet friends.
Roscoe and I are back home in Alabama after our grand adventure to California and Arizona.
We had the MOST fun but we are happy to be home with our Daniel and Bono Baby.
We actually have been home for about a week and I am still trying to get everything unpacked.
Life does go on and I am forever grateful for the time I was able to get away and celebrate Mister Roscoe with my family and friends back home.
I want you all to know that I adore you.
You mean the world to me.

love and hugs,
Fritzi Marie

p.s. The wishing well was under construction when we visited Disneyland and it made us super sad.
We improvised and made wishes in the pond instead.
Not the same.

Fire Engine Comeback

My little man Roscoe and I are still in California.
We have been super busy visiting with family and friends.
Roscoe has been going through some new "phases" as well and I am a bit worn out.
But I am determined to not let lack of rest get me down.
Tomorrow we are taking that little man to Disneyland which I am sure will be quite the adventure.
Then we are off to Arizona to stay with my sister for a few days.
Soon we will be back in Alabama with our Daniel and Bono Baby.

AnnaCas recently did my portrait and I am in LOVE with it.
Her work is amazing.
Just looking at this portrait reminds me that I will get through this time and feel more like myself one day soon.
Even a new Mommy with a baby is a fire engine

Home Again, Home Again, Giggity-Gig

We've missed you.
Roscoe and I are in California with family.

We have been having way too much fun visiting with our friends and family.
We survived our first flight (with the help of a lovely young lady who I happened to sit by).
Roscoe went to the beach for the first time with his Auntie Beep.

We have been visiting some of our favorite eateries.
I'll share more about that soon.

We are gearing up for a big weekend of family parties and we can't wait to see everyone.

We miss our Daniel and Bono Baby terribly.
It is so nice to be surrounded by dear friends and loved ones.
Living far away in Alabama is hard sometimes. It is so nice to be able to come home and re-group.
I am so thankful to be here right now.

love love love,
Fritzi Marie
p.s. Roscoe is going to Disneyland for the first time next week.

Dan's Meat Party

Today is my Hot Dog's (Daniel Walter's) 40th birthday.
We had his Meat Party this weekend.

Most of you know that I don't eat red meat (well I'll admit that I started eating bacon a bit when I got pregnant with Roscoe).  Anyhow, Dan doesn't get to eat as much meat as he would like so he requested that we celebrate by having a meat party.
Dan made beer brats and grilled burgers on his new Weber grill that my sister Annie gifted him for this special birthday.

Bono Baby was in hog heaven.
He even made nice with our guests.
They were sweet to share their treats with him.

Our dear friends from Dan's grad school days (in Mississippi) were able to come over to celebrate.
We love being with them so much.

There was plenty of food and festive conversation.

Roscoe was on good behavior.
He even chilled out in his bouncy chair (a rarity) while we ate.

Roscoe loved flirting with his "Aunties".
Our little man is all eyes.

Daniel wanted 40 candles to blow out and wish on.
With all the candle magic and fun times with friends, he forgot to wish.
Thankfully a dear friend dropped off cupcakes last night so he can make his official wish today.
Wish making is a big deal around here.

Happy 40th Birthday.
I love you so much and very much.

love and hugs,
Fritzi Marie
