Morris Cottage Living Room Tour

Dear Friends,

Welcome to our little living room tour.
We are moving in four months so I thought you would like to see our little cottage before we leave.
We are still on the hunt for curtains, a rug, and throw pillows but we love it just the same.

Almost everything in our home is either handed down or found at estate and yard sales.
The couch and blue chair were my parents (we had them recovered earlier this year).
The blue secretary was a yard sale find in California.
My Grandmother gave me the hope chest (used as a coffee table) and the dresser (used as a TV stand) when I was a little girl.

Daniel gave me this radio for Christmas.

All of the frames are from antique shops and estate sales.

Our chalkboard frame was from an antique store in Mississippi.
Supposedly it was saved from Katrina flood damage in New Orleans.

We found this lamp at a yard sale and re-wired it.
This frame holds a photo of my Daddy as a teen ager.
The side table is from a yard sale in Calfornia.

My Mommy found this amazing chair at an estate sale.
It had a broken leg and my dear Father-in-Law fixed it for us.
Many of the plates and frames on this wall are from my Grandfather Holling's estate.

The Green Frame is from my Grandma and Grampa McLard's farmhouse

The suitcases were picked up in California and Mississippi.
My Mommy bought me that Eiffle Tower lamp when I was going to The University of Utah.

We love that our home is filled with memories and heirlooms.

We hope our next home will be just as welcoming.
Thank you for visiting!

love love,
Fritzi Marie

It goes without saying that your house is absolutely stunningly designed and put together. The muted colors are so calming and fresh feeling. I have to ask though, where did you get those 2 lovely paintings over your couch?!? I LOVE LOVE LOVE them. They look awfully like the ones in Amélie.

Dearest Pretty Penny Mae,

Thank you so much for your kind words. You made my day. The two paintings are the very same Michael Sowa paintings from Amelie's bedroom. I found them at Art.com.

love love,
Fritzi

I love your sweet home K. Everything about it is so personal and pretty. It's so light and bright! A far cry from that dark little den in the foothills that you lived in back in '00!! I have to say that it's been interesting to me to watch your style evolve...you always had little bits of these things but I love seeing it all together in your own home!

I like your style Kat, and I love that you found that your treasures are things that you've found and hand-me-downs from people that you love. It is like you are surrounded by memories. I especially love the frame with the bird on it.

Dearest Friends,

Thank you so much for all of your kind, sweet comments. I was really nervous about sharing it. I always feel like it needs more tweaking. I'm looking forward to seeing how it will look in our next home.

I adore you all,
Fritzi

Dearest Chrissy,
We're moving in August to a home closer to campus. Nothing major. We live 12 miles from campus right now (out in the country) and our new home will only be 2 miles away from Dan's work.

Fritzi

Dear Sara,

That is so cool that you grew up in Salt Lake. I love it there. I always say that it is the only place I would like to live in Utah. I loved going to the University of Utah. My husband went there too (but we didn't know one another "offically" then). They had a good Anthropology program so that is why I chose to go there. I also went to Rick's College in Idaho before that. It seemed natural to pick a school in Utah after that.
I would move back to the Avenues or Sugarhouse in a quick minute, I think! Well, I would love to go visit again.
hugs,
Fritzi
