You Should See Clouds Of Daffodils

The sun is out today.
I thought it would hide out forever.
So today finally feels like Spring and I have a "spring" in my step.
More than anything, I wish I was at home in California with my sisters preparing for the Easter Egg Hunt my Mommy does.
She helps the Easter Bunny out every year and I think that is a big responsibility.
Well, I'm gearing up for our little hunt this year.
Bono Baby is helping me put the eggs together.
We just have to figure out who will help the Easter Bunny hide them because I am determined to win.
I'm not a super competitive person, that is, until the hunt.

I hope your Wednesday is full of sunshine and optimism.

Poetry is a pretty big deal in our little dollhouse.
Above is a photo of Theodore Roethke.
He was Dan's major figure for his comprehensive exams.
In honor of National Poetry Month, Dan is going to write a poem a day.
The exciting thing is that he is going to let me pick a poem a week to share with you,
my dear friends.
I can't wait.
Dan tells me I am his muse.
So, I'll be busy this month.

p.s. If this post looks familiar to you, it means you have been keeping up with me for a year.
How cool is that?

Wish me luck with my MUSE position.
Today, I wore make-up for the first time in two weeks.
Hotsy Totsy!

A few years ago, when Dan and I were living in Mississippi, we drove up to Missouri and camped out in my Grandparents farmhouse for Thanksgiving break.

It was cold but I will never forget that romantic weekend.

We took my Daddy's fancy camera and I took a few photo's.
We found the film last week and had them developed.
I miss the mystery of having film developed.
I miss that mystery but I love my digital camera.
Love it.

Have any of you been watching Who Do You Think You Are on NBC?
I want to be famous just so I can be on this show.
It is fascinating.
WE are all so fascinating.

"Shake Him Real Hard, Maybe He'll Disappear."
-Jess Mariano

Dan and I scored at an estate sale yesterday.
We bought Grandma Steinbeck's Formica table for ten dollars.
We already own two Formica tables but I couldn't leave this one behind.
I fell in love.

We also found lots of treasure for our shop.
I'm planning on sharing it with you as soon as I'm feeling better.
But for now, I have shoppers high about our new table.

Happy Weekend Dear Friends

Dan and I like to save up our change in a penny bank and cash all of it in for Amazon credit.
It lets us buy special treats for one another.
Today, we both got treats in the mail.
The UPS man surprised me with the new She & Him.
Bono loved telling the UPS man "what up."

Dan's treat was a Richard Hugo chapbook from 1978.

Here is poem by Hugo about one of the places we visited last week.

Near Kalalock

Throw sand dollars and they sail alive.
One dead salmon slides to immediate maggots
and the long starch of his side begins,
the chunk of belly gone in teeth
beyond the sonar stab, in green too thick
for signals from our eyes. Tan foam tumbles
and we call the bourbon in us wind.

We put this day in detent with a pastoral
anxiety for stars. Remember when our eyes
were ocean floors and the sun was dissonant
and cold, unlike today. Scream at waves
go back you fools or die, and say once
light was locked in horizoned hunger.

A crack wind breaks the driftwood's white
from stark to cream. East is lost
but serious with lines: defeated slant
of grass, the cirrus pointed and the sudden
point of sun, the lean of ocean
on our throats, bacon-baited knocks
of sea perch in our palms.

Now the shore is speared by ancient orange,
let a tickle say a beach is bleeding.
Tonight the sea will come like the eyes
of all cats in the world stampeding.

p.s. I am getting better and want to thank you for your kind comments.
I'm hoping to be 100% tomorrow.
I'm so behind with everything and I would much rather hear about what you have been up to.

Dear Friends,

I have been scary ill.
I've spent the day in bed watching Gilmore Girls and a few movies too.
I just want to say that I am so thankful for my boys.
When I'm sick I always wish my Mommy was near.
She is the one who always makes me feel better.
But, I am so lucky to have Dan and Bono Baby.
Those boys have the magic touch and I love them so.
Some days, even crappy days like today, I feel like the luckiest girl I know.

I am so thankful for you all.
You make my world a happier place.

p.s. My pretties for my pen pal project came in the mail today.
Keep an eye on your mailbox, friends.

You Can Dance If You Want To

When I am truely happy, I like to do little jig's.
My friend sent this to me today (on facebook) and it made me want to go back in time and be with my dear friends from back in the day.

Today is my day to talk to my sisters on the phone and that makes me want to do the Charleston.

If only I could dress up for a phone call.
Maybe I should.

"I Shut My Eyes In Order To See"
-Paul Gauguin

I've been thinking lately about who I want to be.
I like to close my eyes and imagine the woman that I will become.
Am I brave enough to be that woman?
Maybe I already am "that" woman and I just don't see it yet.

I've been gathering inspiration from all my little nooks and crannies.
I love checking in on Miss Elsa Billgren.
She inspires me.

I had some time to think while on my trip to La Push.
I sat at the table in our little cabin and looked out to the sea (I was desperate to see a whale) and wrote down my goals and lists of this and that.

I have a big year coming up.
I need you to be my cheering section.

I'll cheer you on, if you cheer me on.

Happy Sunday Dear Friends

your cheering section,

Making Certain It Goes On

We're back from our lovely getaway to La Push, Washington.
We wish we could have stayed longer.
All I can say is that it is one of the most beatiful places I have visited.
I can't wait to go back and take my "future babies" there for family vacations.
It was magical.

I missed you all,

p.s. You can see our photo's here...

We're Going On A St. Patrick's Day Adventure

Daniel is taking us for a mini getaway to celebrate St. Patrick's Day and check #14 off of my 34 before 35 list. We're going to stay at a beach cabin in La Push, Washington.
We are going to be without cell phones, Internet, and television and we are super excited about the mini break from the day to day.

The pretty scarf was a gift from my friend Tiffany.
I've been saving it to wear on St. Patrick's Day but Bono beat me to it this morning.
We can't wait to see Bono Baby tip toe on the Washington seashore.

We will miss you for two whole days.

Happy Mail Is A Beautiful Thing

I've been very blessed in my life. My world is full of good friends who are so giving, thoughtful, and creative.
My heart and my mailbox overfloweth as of late.
This thoughtful package of goodies (all of which are right up my alley) came from a new friend, Miss Karli of Retro Plants.
I can't wait to put these treasures to use when we move into our next home.
Thank you Karli, you blew me away.

My dear friend Amy has been my friend FOREVER.
Really, we played together when we were little girls.
She is like a sister to me.
Anyhow, she sent me this super cute vintage button ring as an early birthday gift.
She was so excited and she couldn't wait to send it.
My birthday is in July, just like hers.
Just one of the many things I love about my Amy friend.

With all that said, here's my point.
I love to share my happy mail with you, not to brag, but to remind you that little acts of kindness (like sending a card or a care package) can really make someone's day.

I think we are all going through hard times.
I feel alone sometimes.
When I do, the only thing that makes me feel better is reaching out to a friend.
Since I don't like using the telephone, mail is my outlet.
Okay, I'm off my soapbox.

Am I the only one out there who can't stand calling people?

A Trip To The Sea

Hope you are having a lovely weekend.
We have been busy treasure hunting and we scored big time.
Happy times.
We also watched Paris 36.
It was slow to get going but oh, so pretty.
A Netflix goodie.
Give this a watch.

Did you do anything fun this weekend?

p.s. My blog address has changed.
I like it alot.

Happy Weekend Wishes and A Winner

I'm working on putting together an inspiration board for our shop.
This chez-sucre-chez cross stitch has been sitting in my inspiration photo file for a long time.
Not because I'm feeling like Duckie and waiting for "my time" but because it takes me back to my high school years where I was so full of optimism and inspiration.
I'll be spending this weekend gathering the items I love to display on my board.
I want to see them everyday; I want to soak them up.

What inspires you today?

p.s. Bono Baby picked a winner. He pushed the generate button on and it picked our lucky number 11.
Miss Claire from Heart Homemade.

We again want to thank all of you for being part of our lives.
I would love to send you all a little piece of happy mail.
Just let me know if you are interested here and remember to include your email
(that is if I don't have it already).

We love you,
Kitty, Daniel, and Bono Baby

Happy Mail Walk About

When I was a little girl, I spent many summers at my Grandparents farm in Missouri.
We were the "city kids," but we spent our summers running free on that beautiful farm.
We fished with coffee cans at the creek and ran around barefooted and scantily clothed.
It was paradise, to me.
Everyday, my sister Annie and I would walk down the dirt road to the mailbox.

Always hoping for some happy mail.
We would sing and talk about little girl things.
We would mooooo at the cows and pick up pretty rocks.

Then we would walk back, carrying our Grandparents' mail.
I always felt like such a grown up when I walked to that mail box.
So official.

We would pass Grandpa's work shed and then the barn and then we would walk up the tiny hill to the farmhouse...

and my dear sweet Grandma and Grandpa would greet us.
Those were happy times and I wish I could go back.
But we can, in a little tiny way.

I recently acquired a pen pal, and I've been thinking about what to write this new friend.

I'm taking on a project, that is if you wish to be involved.
I want to write you a letter.
A little piece of happy mail for you to walk to your mailbox and find.
Are you in?

If so, comment with your name and email address and I will email you for your address.

p.s. Bono Baby will pick our giveaway winner tomorrow night.
Don't forget to enter.

A Little Bit of This, A Little Bit of That...

The table for our shop is almost finished. I love its curvy lines.

We found some treasure last weekend.
Bono and I had to take a break from being ill to go to one estate sale.
We just had to.

p.s. Bono Baby is all better. He wanted me to thank you for thinking of him and wishing him well.
He also wanted me to tell you that he went to the pet store today and he picked out a new toy all on his own (a girlie elephant with hot pink ears).

He is in LOVE.

A Giveaway For Our Precious Readers

Dear Readers,
We made it to 50 followers and this made us feel super special.
Thank you for being so wonderful and helping us through our days.
(I'm saying us because everything I do includes my Daniel and Bono Baby.)
To thank you for being part of our lives, we are having a giveaway.
The lucky winner will get a care package from me.
One of the treasures included will be our favorite Black Apple kids, Little Red and Wolf Boy
(I like to think that I'm Little Red and Daniel is Wolf Boy).
To enter leave a comment telling us about your favorite book.
Bono Baby will pick the winner on Friday (March 12th) night.

p.s. Our Bono Baby has been feeling under the weather this weekend.
We think he is on the mend (he's almost at 100%) but please keep him in your thoughts and prayers.
He means everything to our family.

Happy Weekend Wishes To You

I'm in LOVE with this photograph from Lola's Room Photography.
Most of you know I love anything WISH related but everything in her shop is pretty spectacular.
I'll be saving my paypal pennies to make it mine.

In other, not so fun news, I have the stomach flu.
I spent my favorite day, Friday,
(my day to go treasure hunting) with the Bono Baby.
We ate toast, watched Say Anything, and slept some more.

I'm hoping to return to the living tomorrow.
Wish me luck.

Happy Weekend Dear Friends

My New Favorite Treasure

I found this photo of my father-in-law playing croquet in a photo album this week.
I am in love with it.
I think Baby Roscoe (my father-in-law) looks just like my Daniel.
Too Cute!

love love,
Wednesday Tidbits

I've been in project mode this week.
I just finished these frames.

I'm still working on wearing my new shoes in and it's a difficult project.

And a sneak peak of my new table.

I keep thinking about how lucky I am.
I have the best husband
(he went on a Girl Scout Cookie hunt this afternoon)
and Bono Baby let's me pretend that he is my baby.

Did anything special happen to you today?

I'm hoping for a Gilmore Girls Fix

I am super excited about this show.
Horray for Loralai.
I hope it is as good as I have built it up to be.
It premiers tonight.

Let me know what you think?

p.s. I am even MORE excited about Amy Sherman Palladino's new HBO show about "a complicated relationship between three adult sisters".

FYI: I have two adult sisters.
