It's Thin Mint Season

I spent many years in Girl Scouts.
I sold many many boxes of cookies.
I have awards to prove it (hidden away in my Mommy's basement).
I wonder if I were standing out in front of the grocery store if I could sell any now.
To me there are few things better than a box of thin mints and little girls getting all excited about making another sale.
Oh, how I remember that feeling.

p.s. Have i mentioned that I hope to have a little girl one day and a Girl Scout troop.

The Cyd Charisse Dress Is Back In Business

I gave up on this dress because of it's tendency to flash my business.
It made me sad but I wore it to church once and I felt over-exposed.

Well, I brought it out again.
A friend of mine came up with these BlingIt's and she sent one my way.
They help you cover up and make your clothing work for you.

Here it is in ACTION.
It worked like magic.

I'm so happy that my Cyd dress is wearable again.
Thank you, Treelana and thank you BlingIt.

p.s. I hope you all had a lovely weekend.

Mini Date With My Man

My Daniel took me on a mini date.
We went to Dick's Drive In and he bought me a strawberry milkshake.

Strawberry milkshakes are pretty romantic.

love love,
Cookbook News

We went to our friends AJ and Jeremy's book release party this weekend.
They just put out a new cookbook called Double Take.
The coolest thing about this cookbook is that it is full of recipes for Vegetarians and Omnivores.
The same dishes.
I can't wait to use this book for our next shin-dig.

I bet you all can't wait to be invited.
Happy Mail

Again, my friends came to the rescue.
Another not so great week made better by dear friends.

You see, one of my most favorite things to do is send mail.
I love stationary, care packages, ribbon, stickers and such.
I also LOVE to send care packages.

This week, I was the lucky one, with happy mail in my mailbox.
My beautiful friend April sent me this "Blue Dog" postcard.
George Rodrigue and his "Blue Dogs" remind me of my time living in the South.
That special time when I made lovely friends.
Friends like April whom I miss terribly.
I LOVE those blue dogs.

Then I received a very special package from dear Amanda.
I like to call it a "sensitivity package".
I needed it so very much.

She included a very special Tennessee Williams story that she shared recently on her blog.
I cried.
I think I will frame the little doodle she drew in the card.
I can't wait to make the apple cinnamon cupcakes.
That's right, she sent a recipe too.

Point is...

A Little Advise

I've been thinking a lot about a little advise I once received.
When Daniel and I first were married we spent a summer in California, preparing for our move to Mississippi. Dan worked at Disneyland as a train conductor and I worked for my high school teacher, Dr. Lavin.
I walked her dogs, planted flowers, polished silver, went grocery shopping and sat with her husband John when she went out.
John always told me...

He would give me this little bit of advise whenever I talked to him for years and I didn't let it sink in.
That summer, he gave me that same advise daily.
He had Alzheimer's disease and he didn't realize that he had already told me.

I think he gave me this advise over and over for a reason.

I'm working it over in my head.
So, dear friends...I'm passing this advise on to you.

love you,

The Ending Is Always The Saddest Part

(source: Design is Mine)

We watch a lot of movies.
Watching a good film makes me happy.
But, I admit the end of a good film always makes me feel a little bit sad.
I want MORE.

We don't go to the movies very often anymore so we rely on Netflix nowadays.
I've been waiting patiently to see Coco Before Chanel and it was worth the wait.
It is also worth blogging about.
It seems that fewer and fewer movies are worth blogging about lately.
So, friends, get on the Netflix waiting list for your fix of Audrey, romance, and Chanel.
You deserve a movie night, just for you.

(Source: Two Littles Mom)

I'm including this little wishing well rhinestone pin as a hint.
You see, Daniel proposed to me at Snow White's wishing well and I think this needs to be mine.
Just sayin'.

p.s. Do you have any blog worthy movies you would like to share with me.
Please share...

My Cup Runneth Over

We have found so many treasures that we have been meaning to share with you.
This week, we have big plans to update our little shop and share the love.

Today we put this Hootie Hoot Hoot Owl Wall Clock in the shop.

Watch out world.
Cherry Blossom Sunday

Today is beautiful and I feel great.
I hope you do too.
I thought I'd send a little spring love your way just in case.

p.s. My comfy bed and I have broken up.
meaning: I'm returning to the living.

Happy Happy Weekend Dear Friends

I admit it...
I've spent most of the week under the covers hiding out.
The only thing good about having a week like that is Bono Baby.
He loves to cuddle under the blankies and he always makes me smile.

I hope you all have a lovely weekend out and about.

p.s. My goal is to stay out of my comfy bed.
Happy Mail

I received a care package from my friend Lindsey this week.
It always amazes me that sweet friends somehow always know when we need a little love.
Maybe, it's luck...but I like to think it's something more.

She sent me this darling hat and this book, A Home For All Seasons.

Lindsey, you made my whole week.

Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Dan and I were in need of a pick-me-up outing BIG TIME today.
So, we decided to treat ourselves to breakfast at Lil' Jon Restaurant.
The sign drew me in.

When I'm in a bad mood, I like to get a veggie omelet.
I am in love with these plates.

We read the Seattle Weekly and tried not to talk about anything negative.

It helped a little.

What do you do for little pick-me-up's?

Preach On, Brother...

This commercial is my favorite thing right now.
I feel like the travelocity gnome is my kindred spirit.

p.s. Lindsey, I think you and the gnome are kindred spirits too.
WE should start a gang.

Last Week's Shenanigans

I made Daniels Valentine's gift this year.
I think it turned out pretty cute and I wanted to share.
He seemed to like his wish book (full of wishes) and bookmark.

Did you make your special someone anything this year?
Did it go over well?

P.S. Striped socks are a holiday must around here.
Target has some cute mens striped ones right now.

The Story Of Life Is Quicker Than The Wink Of An Eye

We went on a little adventure yesterday to visit Jimi Hendrix's grave and memorial.

It was a tourist move but I needed to cross it off my list.

In honor of Jimi, go take a listen.

Happy Fat Tuesday Dear Friends

Happy Valentines Day
{A LOVE Post}

I hope you have all had love filled weekends.
Mine has been full of treasure hunting and time with my two favorite boys, Dan and Bono Baby.
We just want you all to know how much you mean to us.
You are our valentines.

We found two of these photo albums this weekend.
They are both brand spankin' new and these are the photo's I would put in them for our Valentines Day 2010.

Red fishnets to get me in the mood.

A pink cookie for my Daniel.
Even though he can't stand the color pink, he still ate it.

A sweet valentine from my Dan's parents.

This photo of the officers and crew from the U.S.S. America in 1919.
Oh, how I love to look at there faces.

If you look closely, you'll notice that there is a blurry puppy on board.
I like to think that he was there mascot.

This sweet valentine book which is full of poems and paintings.

And a priceless inscription to a dear Uncle Jack.
I have a dear Uncle Jack too so this means a lot to me.

I also have another Uncle who is very dear to me.
He recently sent me a letter and this photo of himself.
I want to share it with you.

Dear Kathryn,

I love it in Utah.
I saw an interview with the french actress you like.
She speaks perfect English.
She made a movie about Chanel's early life.
As I remember, it was called My Life Before I Became Chanel.
She (Chanel) made suntans alright.
Before Chanel only the lower class has suntans.
Women shielded themselves when they went out in the sun.
Today we have gone back to that thinking.
The sun is bad for skin.

Love you,
Uncle Kent

(I am in LOVE with this letter).

A handmade valentine from my dear friend April.

What our scrapbook would look like if I were into scrap booking.
p.s. these books will be in the shop soon.

One last thought...
I like to think about these men, on their way to France. Who did they leave behind?
Who came home and who did not?

Happy Valentines Day Dear Friends.

I love you

Today's Goodies

Two little mice to take care of our receipts.

Dan found a Remington Portable typewriter.
I love that it has an Eastern Air Lines tag on it and it's last trip was in 1954.

This sassy little kitty will be holding our wedding rings.
p.s. Did I mention that Daniel lost his wedding ring a few weeks ago.
But guess what?
He found it last week.
It was outside in the grass.
We were so very happy.
