Happy Happy

Bono Baby makes me HAPPY.

What makes you happy this morning?
Blueberry Sunday

Dan made the most amazing buttermilk blueberry pancakes this morning.
The blueberries were fresh from the backyard.
They were so GOOD.
They did leave me feeling like a big round blueberry though.
I threw on a comfy dress (which just happened to be my University of Utah graduation dress from 2001) and I think my little outfit was blueberry inspired.
A little blue here, a little purple there.
We went to see if any salmon had made their way to the Issaquah Fish Hatchery.
No fishies yet.
We can't wait for The Issaquah Salmon Days Festival.

p.s. Sorry, we couldn't share more photos, our camera battery died and we played a bit with Dan's camera on his phone

Happy Sunday Night
(all of my favorite shows are on tonight, yippee!)

Saturday Afternoon Picnic

We went to a grand picnic in North Bend today.
It was lovely.

I thought it was so thoughtful that our hosts served veggie burgers.
Sometimes that doesn't happen and I end up with lots of salad and a bun with cheese.

Dan loved that Mount Si was in the background.
He hiked to the top when he was in scouts.
He also ran into a few guys that he grew up with.
One of them called him by his nickname from that time, Smiley.
I think that's funny since Dan will rarely smile in one of my photo's.
Too Cute.

Bono Baby didn't get to go to the picnic but don't worry he went on his very own little adventure afterwards.
He went to the Train Depot for a walkabout.
I've decided that he likes trains since he made friends with one yesterday.

Happy Anniversary Mommy and Dad CJ

I have had the most fun watching you on your little adventures.

When CJ showed up at the front door for "the first date" he was just TOO cute.
With his slicked back, black hair, and his big sweet smile.
He told me that I looked just like my Mommy.

I feel so lucky to have such wonderful parents.

Here's to many more adventures and happy years.
I love you,

Something To Look Foward To

Dan and I are big Wes Anderson fans.
We are so anxious to see Fantastic Mr. Fox.
It looks like it will be a "fun time" movie trip for sure.
p.s. My favorite Wes Anderson film is The Darjeeling Limited.
I love watching sibling rivalries.
Dan's is Rushmore. He loves movies about academics.

What is your favorite Wes movie?

Treasure Hunt Friday

One of my favorite things about Washington is that they have yard sales on Friday.
Dad Morris, Dan, Bono Baby and I were on the hunt for treasures this morning.
Dan found this Italian leather satchel for $2.00.
Score, it will look so nice with his elbow patched tweed jacket.

I bought him this crane for his office.
It reminds us of our time in Mississippi.

Dad Morris found this Lionel Christmas train for get this, $3.00.
That's right, batteries included.
Bono Baby wasn't too sure about the train.
He wasn't too happy when his toy monkey ended up inside the tracks.

Bono Baby warmed up to the new train and he and his monkey were reunited.

It was a good day.
We spent a total of $6.50.

p.s. I bought one more thing but it is a surprise for someone.
It's super cute and it's going to make this special someone very happy.
Friend Making Friday

My dear friend Pam and I went to the Cougar Mountain Zoo today.
We made so many new little friends.

I loved meeting all the birds. My favorite was named Max.
I think my love of birds stems from my love of the Tiki Hut.
Fritz is my favorite Tiki Hut birdie.

Speaking of the Enchanted Tiki Room, my sister-in-law has a recipe for a pinapple surprize drink like the ones you can get outside of the Tiki Hut.
Maybe, she'll let me post it.
Pretty please Katherine?

Pam and I had a lovely day out in the sun with all our new friends.
Thank goodness for FRIENDS.

Mark Your Calendars

Lifetime is premiering a movie about Georgia O'Keeffe and Alfred Stieglitz on September 19th.
I know Lifetime has been known for some cheesy movies but they have stepped up their game big time. I hope you all saw Coco Chanel with Shirley MacLaine.
I'm so fascinated with O'Keefe and Stieglitz's relationship and I can't wait to see this movie.

Dan and I spent our wedding night in the Georgia O'Keeffe room at The Artists' Inn in Pasadena, California.
I will forever think of that night when I look at Georgia O'Keeffe's paintings.

Happy Friday Friends

Hootie Toot Toot

I'm in love with this little hoot owl pillow.
I think it's adorable.
Do you think I can "make it work?"
I'm thinking it will look super cute in my next living room.
p.s. This could just be a hoot owl moment I'm having.
We'll have to wait it out.
Just say NO to impulse buying.

I went to a job interview today.
I have a second one next week.
It's a job at a place that we all LOVE.
If I don't talk about it again, then I didn't get it.
I will be okay but I won't feel like sharing.

I did wear my lucky flea market dress and my Modigliani necklace for LUCK.

Baby Steps For Fritzi Marie

"This Is My Wish For You -
That Light And Beauty Surround You."

I love to send out pretty note cards to my friends and family.
I feel like it's the sweetest way to tell someone you love them.

When I worked at the NSM Museum Store, I fell in love with Laughing Elephant goodies.
They make me happy.

These note cards from Fred Flare are super cute too.

People need to know that we care about them, and cute note cards are the perfect way to show them.

p.s. Target has pretty one's too.

Happy Birthday Daddy

Today would have been my Daddy's 79th birthday. Could that be?
I had the most amazing Dad. I spent 24 years with him and I always felt like his little girl.
It makes me so happy to know that he is looking out for me and cheering me on. I wish you all could have met him, you would have really thought he was cool. He loved to talk about archaeology, hot rods, movies and his children.
I miss him a lot.

Dear Daddy,
Happy Birthday.
You sure are an old fart.
I think about you everyday.
I love that when I look in the mirror I see you looking back at me some days.
I still have your nose and I have your baby face too.
I think your really would have loved my Daniel.
He has hands like yours.
I hope you're watching over our little "future" babies up there.
I hope they get Grandmother's fashion sense.
I can still hear you singing K-K-K-Katy to me in my head.
I love you Daddy-Bear.
your Fritzi
p.s. Give Rags a squeeze for me.
Blackberry Hill

Lately, our favorite thing to do is walk down the hill to the blackberry patch.
I like to go in the morning and eat my breakfast there.
I also like to go in the evening and get some more for my evening snack.
We all like to go and watch Bono Baby explore.
He always comes home with blackberry juice smudges all over his pretty white fur.

Late August, given heavy rain and sun
For a full week, the blackberries would ripen.
At first, just one, a glossy purple clot
Among others, red, green, hard as a knot.
You ate the first one and its flesh was sweet
Like thickened wine: summer's blood was in it
Leaving stains upon the tongue and lust for
Picking, Then red ones inked up and that hunger
Sent us out with milk cans, pea tins, jam pots
Where briars scratched and wet grass bleached our boots.
Round hayfields, cornfields and potato drills
We trekked and picked until the cans were full,
Until the tinkling bottom had been covered
With green ones, and on top big dark blobs burned
Like a plate of eyes. Our hands were peppered
With thorn pricks, our palms sticky as Bluebeard's

We hoarded the fresh berries in the byre
But when the bath was filled we found a fur,
A rat grey fungus, glutting on our cache
The juice was stinking too. Once off the bush
The fruit fermented, the sweet flesh would turn sour.
I always felt like crying, it wasn't fair
That all the lovely canfuls smelled of rot.
Each year I hoped they'd keep, knew they would not.

I wish I could sneak some blackberries to all of you. Actually, I wish I could come drop by your house and ask you to go on a walk with me to Blackberry Hill. I'm sure we would have the most fun chatting away and talking about how adorable Bono Baby is. I bet we wouldn't take many berries home with us. I always eat too many of them and my bucket never gets very full.

Happy Tuesday Dear Friends

Sunday Afternoon Adventure Drive

We did it. We gave out talks and we survived.
We didn't take too much of an adventure drive because we wanted to get home, put on our comfies and lounge with Bono Baby.
I'm patting myself on the back for not making a silly duck out of myself.
Thank you for thinking of me and wishing me luck.
love you,
Fritzi Marie
Procrastinating Kitty

I'm trying to work on my talk for tomorrow and all I want to do is decorate my future home (in my head). I'm in love with Liberty of London fabric and strangely I'm terribly attracted to florals right now. I like this top swatch for our bedroom. I'm thinking of making our pillowcases and pairing them with a crisp, white down comforter.

Then there is my living room and my dream couch that I am hoping to get one day.
I love this floral, maybe curtains or pillows to match my yard sale treasure found in Monrovia last spring (a blue secretary hutch).

By the way, my talk prep on FAITH has been doing wonders on my state of mind.
Last week, I would have told you that I was so down and out and ready to give up on everything.
Now, I'm cool. Things are looking up. They have to. I'm humming my favorite pick me up song in my head and thinking about all the friends and family who have my back.

I'm wishing again and that makes me so happy.

It seems like we were on the road forever ago. I finished up the last of our polaroid film. We did save two photos. I need to get one of Bono Baby in his raincoat and one of my Daniel.

Word is that Urban Outfitters and The Impossibe Project are going to make film available again.
That is good news.

I love a good, old fashioned, blurry, polaroid.
Especially one of myself. I think everyone looks dreamy on polaroid film.
It's like magic.

But, I sound too trendy right now.
So, I'm moving on to something else.
So long Polaroid film.
I wish you well with the hipsters.

Daniels Birthday Day Celebration

We went to Gasworks Park for a birthday picnic in the Seattle sun.

Bono Baby loved watching the kites floating around in the air and the seaplanes landing on Lake Union.

Dan didn't have the best birthday ever but we plan to re-celebrate it later on.
We did go out for a lovely dinner with the family and Dan had his fill of sesame chicken.
Dan's list of things that make him happy really showed us how much he loves food.
The best part about his love for food is that he loves to cook too.
Lucky me.

Our fantastic view from our picnic spot.

I wasn't too happy with this ensemble.
Today was one of those days where my closet made me upset.

I wish I could have made his birthday perfect.
But, I have lots of years to make it up to him.
I am so happy that he is my best friend and he stands by me and my many moods.
I am truly blessed to have such an amazing husband.

Happy Birthday Daniel
I love you times a million
