To understand the world, you must first understand a place like Mississippi.
-William Faulkner

We went to William Faulkner's home, Rowan Oak. Rowan Oak is one of the most beautiful homes I have ever encountered. It was full of history and charm.

To get there, we walked through this wooded area. We were the only one's there because of the rain. We love that.

You know me, I have to turn everything into a modeling moment. I'm a poser, I've heard. I'm not talking about the kind of poser we knew in high school. I mean I'm big on posing for photo opportunities. If you call me a poser, of the high school variety, I'll cry.

This is Rowan Oak.

This is me posing.

Here's Dan posing. He's nice to humor me.

You know I can't do just one.

We toured the house. I even visited William Faulkner's powder room. How exciting.

This is his library.

This is a bust of Don Quixote in Faulkner's library.

Faulkner's office. I like this photo because you get to see the view of the courtyard. What a lovely place to write.

I love that this photo of Faulkner's bedroom looks like a painting. Dan's Mommy loves this kind of bedspread. You can find them at The Vermont Country Store. They are timeless and beautiful.

My favorite room was his wife Estelle's bedroom. They were childhood sweethearts. I loved the light in her room. I also hope to one day have a place like this to paint in.

I told Dan to stand still.

The grounds around the house were so pretty.

Dan likes barn wood.

I like how the color of the moss looks against the red bricks in the background.

Dan caught me in mid thought.

Dan thought the stacks of wood looked nice.

I wish I had a pretty pony to ride.

If you ever get the opportunity to go to Oxford, Mississippi, you must visit Rowan Oak.
I promise you will fall in love.

You look so pretty. You and Dan do the coolest stuff. Thanks for worrying about me. I've been so busy lately I haven't had the time for lots of extra stuff. I'm hoping to post again soon. Lots of love.

Katherine,
I can't imagine you ever making me cry. You're the nicest sister in law ever.

Lindsey,
I thought that quote was priceless. You're the sweetest.

Amy,
I'm looking foward to some updates on my Amy-friend. I really lucked out with my Daniel. Remember when we went to your house right after we got engaged. We were all so excited.
