Pit Stops On The Road

Our little trips usually include a lot of Diet Coke. Most of you who have ever been on any sort of road trip (short or long) with me know that a drive with Kitty means making lots of pit stops.

I think that my "pit stops" make a trip. I've found that the coolest treasures are found when you least expect them.

Like this pit stop. It was an emergency so Dan pulled over and we found this little road to somewhere. I was transported back to my Grandparents farm in Missouri. I even saw little butterflies and the whole experience made me happy.

If any of you ever get the chance to drive on the Natchez Trace Parkway, do it. It is beautiful. Dan recalled the story "A Worn Path" by Eudora Welty. We enjoyed seeing the landscape that Welty describes in the story.

We joke that someday I should write a guide to the "best" pit stops on the road. Though, I think that the true treasures are found by happenstance.
