A whimsical afternoon get-away

We decided to get out of town. Dan and I went on a drive up to Jackson, Mississippi, to do some shopping and eat dinner. They finally opened up some decent shops in Jackson. Many of you know that my retail therapy went out of the window when I moved to Mississippi. Probably a good thing being on a student's budget and all. Now they have a fancy schmancy shopping center in Jackson. It felt like we were at Paseo Colorado in Pasadena. It was a nice break. We went to Anthropologie and Barnes & Noble. We also went out for Chinese food and our fortune cookies were right on.
Here's Dan's fortune. It's like the fortune cookie fairies knew exactly what he needed.

Here's my fortune. I wonder what it might mean?

Sadly, I came home sicker than a dog (well, a cute little sick puppy).
I had a sore throat when we left. Now I'm laid up in our comfy bed and getting ready to get up and go to the doctor.
Poor Me.

update: I'm home from the doctor and she said I won't be having the best weekend and I will spend most of it in bed. Our celebratory weekend away will have to wait until after Dan finishes his disertation.

Lindsey,
I hope your daughter is on the mend. The health center at USM said that this illness was making the rounds.
Life is funny for sure.
You're poor little girl is sick on Mardi Gras break weekend.
So Unfair.
Happy Mardi Gras, my Mississippian friend.

Kat

Jackson!! My friend Cori calls that "the big city" when she gets to go! Sounds like a fun time, although I'm sorry you are sick, no fun for that.

Kristen,
Your friend Cori is right about Jackson being the big city around here. Where is she living? Does she like it?
love love love,
