Whewwwwwww.

We survived. I've decided that the waiting around made me sick. Today was one of the scariest days of my life. I am not a strong, patient, Southern Woman. I'm a "get things done" California Girl.

I am good at being prepared and making sure that I have the cleanest house on the block. I will say that this bowl of M & M's came in HANDY when we were hiding out in our downstairs bathroom. I am a stress eater. I've decided not to beat myself up about going off of my diet today. I needed that junk/comfort food.

When Dan got word on the radio that tornado's were heading our way, I made us get in the bathroom. I know I'm overprotective but I had to get my Daniel out of harms way. Waffle (my stuffed pug) and my baby blankets came with me.

Thankfully, we are safe and well. Now, we just need to wait and see how everyone else on the coast is fairing. Our thoughts and best wishes go out to everyone who is out of place or experiencing loss right now.

This photo is for my family...
I think they will understand how freaked out I was. I also think they will like seeing my familiar comfort gear. Plus, the cousin Taylor face is an unexpected treat.
love you.

I would have been eating junk food all day---a box of nutty bars for me and a box of swiss rolls for Doug---that's just breakfast. I'm a stress eater too. You definitely needed those m&m pills. Thanks for keeping Dan safe in the bathroom. I'm glad you had your blankies.

I'm so glad you are ok. I have been thinking of you all day. In times of stress junk food always helps.

Here's to comfort food!!! I am so grateful that you are safe and sound. I have been thinking about you and Dan all weekend. Worry worry. Waffle the wonder pig to the rescue!

PUG. Not PIG. Although I'm sure there is a Waffle the wonder pig out there doing great things.

Duh.

Hooray, I'm so glad you guys are okay. I got pretty worried when I was watching the weather channel last night.

This will be a good story for us someday. The day the ham radio, the baby rag, the bathrooom, and some m&ms saved the day. Geezz, I'm glad it's over. The last picture was a hoot.

Kat I'm so glad you and Dan are okay! But next time I think it would be wise to get the Hell out of Dodge when a storm like that is coming. If anything now you guys have a great story to tell people about riding out Gustav. My cousin Jeff lived in New Orleans when Katrina hit luckily him and his family evacuated. So I just think that it's better to be safe than sorry about those kind of storms. I miss you guys a ton and can't wait till you’re back on the West Coast.

I've been there...Hurricane Andrew...9 hours in a closet with my mom. That probably says it all.

Girlie - your wish tickets are in the mail. I know you will love them.

oooh so glad you guys are ok! it's such a stressful and scary time during a storm like that! I know the feeling when I had to sit and hide through all the tornadoes growing up in Oklahoma.
